Thank you for your interest in applying to serve on the committee revising the NBPTS Early and Middle Childhood/Literacy: Reading–Language Arts Standards. Please review the application and committee requirements below before submitting your application.

Application Requirements & Timeline
To prepare for the application, please have:

An updated, uploadable resume (PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, or JPG)
Contact information for two professional references.
The application is now open and will remain available until 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Selected committee members will be notified via email by March 20, 2026.

Committee Requirements & Commitments
If selected, here’s what to expect in the coming months:

The committee will include 12 members, selected through a nationwide search to ensure broad and diverse representation.
The committee will meet at least four times virtually, April - August 2026:
  • April 1–2 (10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET)
  • May 7 (10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET)
  • June 17–18 (10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET)
  • August 24–27 (10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET)
Additional small-group meetings will be scheduled periodically from April through August. These dates are flexible and will be finalized at a later time.

Committee work will continue between meetings via Zoom, Google tools, conference calls, and email. Training and technical support will be provided.

Committee members will receive an honorarium, and NBPTS will reimburse the district for substitute teachers, if requested.

The committee will review and revise the current standards that guide the National Board Certification assessment and submit its final recommendations to the NBPTS Board of Directors in the Fall of 2026.
