SACE Integrated Learning-‘Medical Science and Practice’ Survey

Medical Science and Practice is an interdisciplinary SACE Integrated Learning program designed for students interested in medicine, healthcare and science.

The program connects Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with real-world applications in medicine and human health. Through practical investigations, medical and health-related scenarios, research and collaborative activities, students develop skills in scientific inquiry, clinical thinking, evidence interpretation, critical thinking and professional communication.

The program is designed as a Stage 1 to Stage 2 pathway, with Stage 1 building the foundations of medical science and introductory clinical thinking, and Stage 2 extending students into more advanced investigation of physiology, pathophysiology, medical evidence, contemporary healthcare and ethical issues.

The program may particularly benefit students considering future pathways in Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences and related fields.

2027 Program: Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Medical Science and Practice will be offered in 2027. Stage 1 (20 credits) is suitable for students entering Year 9 or Year 10 in 2027, with no entrance assessment required. Stage 2 (20 credits) is available for students entering Year 11 in 2027. Students entering Stage 2 without completing Stage 1 will be required to complete an entrance assessment to determine their readiness for the course.

PRE-MED Senior College will hold an Online Information Session for students and families who would like to learn more about the Medical Science and Practice program, including the proposed course structure, SACE pathway, entry requirements, timetable, SACE credits and enrolment process.
