OBJECTIVES
1. Housing
Ensure that the parish has housing of the right type, size and tenure to meet the varied needs of its residents and people who want to make Ockley their home.
New housing development will be of a high quality design, sympathetic to the historic character of our rural neighbourhood. Consideration must be given to providing housing that is accessible to people of all income levels.
2. Transport
Ensure that residents have efficient sustainable and safe ways to connect with each other, local businesses, parish facilities and the wider locality.
Improve highway and pedestrian safety which will encourage traffic to slow down, stop and enjoy the village. This will help support local businesses and improve traffic safety.
3. Economic activity
Ensure there are suitable spaces and the right infrastructure to make the village a destination for visitors from elsewhere, a place to locate rural businesses, and supportive of home workers.
This will create a thriving local economy that provides business opportunities, employment and meets the needs of the parish.
4. Community facilities and recreational activities
Provide for a broad selection of facilities and activities for both villagers and visitors of all ages, that helps strengthen the community.
5. Climate resilience and environment
Build a community which is increasingly resilient to climate change and energy shocks, by encouraging low carbon energy solutions and promoting sustainability wherever possible.
Ensure the landscape and natural assets of Ockley are valued and preserved.
