Public Consultation 2026

We are the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (the “Authority”). We were established on 5 March 2025. Our role is to regulate gambling activities in Ireland.

The law that established us, and sets out what we do, is the Gambling Regulation Act 2024. We refer to this law as “the 2024 Act”

Prescribed Games Categorisation - Sec 86 (1) of the 2024 Act
Section 86(1) of the 2024 Act requires us to prescribe, by regulations, a list of the games that a gaming licensee may provide. A gaming licence, once granted, will specify which of these prescribed games (each referred to in the 2024 Act as a “relevant game”) the particular licensee is authorised to provide, in accordance with section 86(2) of the 2024 Act.

This consultation concerns the list of games we propose to prescribe for that purpose

Provision of information to account holders - Sec 173 of the 2024 Act
These Regulations prescribe certain information that remote gambling licensees must provide to account-holders, the intervals at which those licensees must send to account-holders alerts detailing winnings and losses and the time spent gambling through their accounts, and the periods in respect of which those licensees must provide account-holders with immediate access to their gambling history.

Records and accounts - Sec 152 of the 2024 Act
These Regulations prescribe certain records and accounts which are required to be kept and maintained (in an electronic form) by certain categories of licensee for the purposes of the Act of 2024
