Introduction

The Commission is developing a new strategic plan to cover 2026 to 2029, and your input is important at this early stage.

The plan will build on our work since 2022 to become an enabling regulator. This saw time and effort put into being outward facing and actively engaging with stakeholders to enable the sector to comply with charity regulation.

The guiding principle of this strategic plan will be delivering the biggest benefits for charities and their beneficiaries. The plan will also see the statutory framework governing charity regulation in Northern Ireland updated by the Department for Communities over the next three years. This will require the Commission to further adapt its approach during the next three years.

Some initial work has been done by Commissioners and staff to set out a strategic agenda. We are keen to get feedback on our organisation as well as the aims, priorities and outcomes the Commission believes will be needed over the next three years including your comments on the Commission’s:

  • Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Key aims.
  • Priorities (in terms of change and delivery of regulatory work).
  • Outcomes.

Actions to deliver these priorities will be set out in subsequent annual business plans. Throughout the period of the new strategic plan the Commission’s Board intends to take the lead on setting the tone and direction for taking every opportunity to build relationships between the Commission and its stakeholders.
