Trash Talk - the Warrnambool Waste Services Survey Question Title As we prepare to review our Kerbside Collection Contract, we wanted to check in with the community to see what’s working, what could be improved, and how we can deliver the best value for money. Section 1The first section looks at potential changes to collection services. It’s important to recognise that no waste services in Warrnambool, or any other municipality, are free. Increased costs would be included as part of the Waste Services Charge on Rates Notices. Question Title * 1. Should bins be picked up during the day or at night? During the day At night Whichever is cheaper Unsure Question Title * 2. Would you be willing to pay for weekly FOGO (green-lidded bin) collections during spring? Would you be willing to pay for an extra landfill (red-lidded bin) collection over the Christmas period? Yes, up to $5.00 Yes, up to $10.00 Yes, up to $20.00 No Question Title * 5. Yes, anyone who is willing to pay the additional cost should be able to have a larger bin. Yes, but there should be criteria (such as number of people in a household). No, the current bin is an appropriate size, and it’s up to all of us to try to reduce the amount of material going to landfill. The only exception should be for people with medical waste disposal needs. None of the above Question Title * 6. How often do you think the glass (purple-lidded) bin should be collected? Reducing the number of pick-ups would save money and vehicle emissions. If the frequency of pick-ups was reduced, Council would look to continue the free glass drop-off arrangement with a local transfer station. Fortnightly Monthly Quarterly Question Title * 7. Warrnambool does not currently have a hard waste collection due to the cost and risks associated with an annual collection. Currently, residents may arrange a hard waste removal through private contractors or deliver hard waste directly to transfer stations around Warrnambool.Would you be willing to pay for an annual hard rubbish collection from your property? Yes, up to $20.00 per year Yes, up to $50.00 per year Yes, up to $100.00 per year No Question Title * 8. In most courts, residents place their bins on one side of the street. If this approach was adopted in other suitable streets (not major roads) it could reduce costs and vehicle emissions by making truck routes more efficient. Is this something you would support? Yes, I would be willing to take my bin across the street, or have my neighbour’s bin placed in front of my house, if it meant saving money and reducing emissions. No, I wouldn’t be willing to do this. I live on a major road, so this wouldn’t be applicable to me. I live in a court where this already happens. Question Title * 9. Do you have any comments about the waste services provided? Please keep in mind that additional services will increase your Waste Services Charge, while a reduction in services has the potential to lower it. Next
