The NPA National Assistant Principal of the Year (APOY) award honors assistant principals who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities as well as demonstrating exemplary contributions to the profession. Each year, ASA selects an Assistant Principal of the Year who then is eligible for nomination to the National Principals Association (NPA - formerly NASSP) APOY program.

Applications must be received by October 15th.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be an Active Member of ASA and a member of NPA at the time of nomination and will maintain membership through the conclusion of the award year.
2. Must be an active school assistant principal for at least three years.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Nominees are judged on the following criteria:
1. Leadership for Learning - successfully meeting the needs of students
2. Communication - strength in personal & organizational communication
3. Professionalism - improvement of knowledge and skills while providing professional development and motivation to others
4. Community Involvement - active participation in local community
