Project Overview
The Brandywine Growth District (BGD) Revitalization Plan is a community-driven effort to reimagine a 158-acre stretch of mostly industrial land in the City of Binghamton.
The BGD is envisioned as a future-focused redevelopment district fostering economic and community growth through industrial revitalization, technological innovation, and sustainable development. Building on earlier planning work, the BGD Revitalization Plan will take a fresh look at the area’s current conditions and make recommendations for land uses, street and sidewalk improvements, stormwater management, and establishing a cohesive look and feel for the district.
The Brandywine Corridor is a key gateway into the city, with many vacant or underused properties and ongoing infrastructure challenges. With input from the community, this project will explore how the area can be transformed into a more connected, welcoming, and economically vibrant district — while staying true to its industrial roots.
Where is the Brandywine Growth District?
The BGD is located on the northeast side of the City of Binghamton. It is bounded by Bevier Street to the north, the railroads to the east and south, and the Brandywine Highway/NY-7 to the west.
