The Next 100 Years of NYSPA: Building Our Future Together

The 2026 NYSPA Convention aims to bring together experts from both local and broader communities to build on the history of our profession and look ahead to our next 100 years. The event will focus on key issues affecting health, mental health, and our profession, both now and in the future.
Local, national, and global issues intersect to create the tapestry in which we work. NYSPA was the first state association for psychologists, formed in 1921, to support psychologists and further psychological wellness throughout the state. We were the first state organization to lobby for psychology being a licensed profession, and the first to adopt a code of ethics. We continue to draw from this rich history, never shying away from difficult topics or a challenge. We will explore current practical issues, legislative updates, and trends in education and training. Things our predecessors could never have imagined-- artificial intelligence, telehealth, prescribing privileges, interstate commerce, and many others--are now robustly discussed daily among ourselves and our colleagues.

We invite you to submit a poster and contribute your expertise to this important conversation. Together, we can carry our profession well into the next hundred years.

The Poster Session is held each year during NYSPA's Annual Convention, and enables participants to present their recent research and writing to an interested professional audience.

Participants of the Poster Session are required to register and be available during a specified period to discuss their ideas with convention attendees. Specific times will be posted as they become available. All psychologists and psychology students are welcome to participate. Professors of psychology, psychology students, and early careerists may be particularly interested.

THE CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION INCLUDES:
~ Content may include all areas of psychology
~ NYSPA membership is not required
~ Student posters sponsored by faculty members are welcome

The deadline to submit a poster is Friday, May 1, 2026. If you have any questions please contact the NYSPA Office at nyspa@nyspa.org or 518-437-1040.
