2026 ESSO Observership Program Details:
- Financial Support: A €2,000 stipend will be provided to the selected participant to assist with travel and accommodation expenses.
- Registration: Complimentary registration for the 45th European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) Congress, held in Madrid, Spain on 4-6 November 2026.
- One Week Observership: Before or after the ESSO congress at a Surgical Oncology Center selected by the participant from a list of options provided by ESSO.
- Social Events: Invitation to the Welcome Reception and an opportunity to meet with ESSO Board Members.
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:
- Be an SSO member in good standing (2026 dues must be paid) to apply.
- Cannot have previously received the SSO ICDE grant.
- Cannot have previously participated in the Career Catalyst Mentorship Program.
- Cannot have previously participated in the President Scholars Program.
- Cannot have previously participated in the Foster the Future Mentorship Program.
- Cannot have participated in a global partner observership.
- Must be 45 years old or younger at the time of the ESSO 2026 programing (November 4-6, 2026).
- Must be currently employed in the US.
- Must have a strong command of the English language (both writing and speaking).
- Must have a current passport.
- Must be US-based and be able to obtain a travel visa to Spain.
