NZBB is proposing that the rate of levy remain the same.

Bee biosecurity questions
This is the first of several rounds of consultation with beekeepers on the merits of NZBB potentially expanding its scope to general honey bee health and disease management. NZBB can only adopt this role with the support and endorsement of New Zealand beekeepers. Your feedback will be conveyed to the Minister for Biosecurity and will influence NZBB’s next steps.

When will I know the outcome?
The NZBB Board will consider all submissions before fixing the rate of the 2026/27 levy. This decision will be announced to the sector through our website, email, social media, the NZ Beekeeper Magazine, and the New Zealand Gazette.

At the same time, initial feedback on bee biosecurity preparedness will also be conveyed to the sector and supplied to the Minister for Biosecurity.
