APPLICATION CRITERIA AND CONDITIONS

PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE APPLICATION FORM
The PAMSA Master’s in Engineering Bursary & Research Programme has, for more than a decade, equipped chemical engineering students with the skills and experience to undertake industry-relevant research. The programme supports the South African pulp and paper sector in advancing the circular bioeconomy, improving resource efficiency, and developing innovative solutions using renewable and recycled materials.

The programme comprises a two-year bursary valued at R320,000 that supports:
  • Tuition fees at participating university
  • Accommodation and study materials
  • Living expenses
Eligibility and Application Requirements

To be considered for the PAMSA Master’s in Engineering Bursary & Research Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a final-year student or recent graduate with a BSc or BEng in Chemical Engineering from a registered South African university.
  • Achieve a minimum average of 60% in their final year of study.
  • Have completed, or be on track to complete, undergraduate degree within five years or less.
South African citizenship is preferred.
Supporting Documentation
Applicants are required to submit the following:
  • A comprehensive CV
  • Academic transcripts for each year of study
  • One letter of reference from your university lecturer
  • A motivation letter explaining why you should be consider for the programme

Participating Universities
Successful applicants will undertake full-time Master’s study at one of the following institutions:
  1. Stellenbosch University
  2. University of the Witwatersrand
  3. North-West University
  4. University of Pretoria
