SPRING 2026 NMS Scholarship and Financial Aid Applications
The Neighborhood Music School (NMS) is proud to provide scholarships based on financial need and musical development. Please fill out this application to the best of your ability and share this opportunity with other families and musicians you may know! SOME THINGS HAVE CHANGED! Make sure to consider these important steps as you continue!
FIRST:This application is for one single, individual student. Families with more than one student/candidate applying for scholarships, must submit one application for each student/candidate.
SECOND: Have your most recent tax summary (2025 or 2024) OR your most recent proof of income (last two pay stubs) ready to upload as PDF's or Images (JPEG). The best way to have those items ready for upload is in the PDF format. If you need to convert images/pictures into a PDF, platforms such as https://jpg2pdf.com/, can help you do that for free!
If you are submitting your most recent tax return, please upload only the first page of your 1040 tax form.
THIRD: If you are a new student to NMS, you must invite someone you know - a family member, a schoolteacher, a tutor, coach, or religious leader - to fill out a recommendation letter for you. This letter can be found on https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GRTBTWV. Please share this link with whomever is writing this letter in your support.
FOURTH: You will be asked to identify if you are applying for a single scholarship (and which instrument/discipline), or if you are applying for multiple scholarships (and which instruments/disciplines).
FIFTH: There are 28 questions in this application. No question should be left unanswered! You will see a "THANK YOU" page once your application is complete, where you should click on the final "DONE" button.
STRICT DEADLINE to submit this application is Saturday, January 17th, 2026.
IMPORTANT: Once you submit your application, someone from the NMS office will contact you to schedule a LIVE IN-PERSON AUDITION and INTERVIEW. This in-person audition and interview will take place between January 26th (Monday) and 31st (Saturday), 2026.
NEW >>> If awarded a scholarship, the student/candidate will be asked to participate in an in-person orientation meeting, to receive details about the meaning and expectations of this scholarship, and also to review and sign the contract/agreement. TAKE NOTE! The orientation meeting will happen at NMS, on Saturday, February 21st, at 1pm!
