Dear Research Survey Participant:

Never more than today, people across organizations need the ability to explore, analyze, visualize, and share data insights easily and flexibly so that they can take action to address changing circumstances. Organizations need key decision makers in corporate, line-of-business, departmental, and frontline functions to feel comfortable and “literate” with data so they can use it effectively.

In recent years, one of the biggest trends in business intelligence (BI), analytics, and data preparation, integration and management has been the exciting growth of self-service capabilities. We are now seeing artificial intelligence (AI) techniques such as machine learning (ML) infuse self-service to improve user experiences and augment decision-making with smart automation.

This TDWI Best Practices Report, “The Future of Business Analytics: Augmented Self-Service Front Ends Supported by Modern Data Management,” will focus on the trend toward using self-service capabilities to enhance business-driven data interaction for analytics. Of course, it takes more than front-end tools or cloud-based services to achieve what users want from self-service; it takes the whole stack of modern data management, including integration, preparation, and data catalog technologies. Cloud computing is playing a huge role in this modernization. It also takes improved data literacy.

PURPOSE -- This survey asks for your expertise and opinions about the above related topics. The results will be analyzed and will appear with other contextual content in an upcoming TDWI Best Practices Report. Thank you in advance for your participation, and we look forward to your responses!

INCENTIVE -- In appreciation of your completion of this survey, TDWI will send you a link for downloading the final report when it is published in late September, 2020. Plus, if you complete the survey, we will enter your name in a drawing to win your choice of either a $200 TDWI training credit or a $200 Amazon gift cards! (Three winners will be selected.) To enter, please be sure to you give us your email address at the end of the survey.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE SURVEY? – We invite a range of individuals to participate. The survey is geared to professionals in business who use BI and lead analytics projects; chief data officers, chief analytics officers, data scientists, business analysts, and data analysts; and CIOs, BI/DW managers, and IT personnel responsible for BI, analytics, and data warehouses, data integration, data lakes, and related systems. Consultants should answer questions with their most recent client in mind.

DIRECTIONS – The survey opens with five demographic questions about you. Then, there are the main research survey questions (Q6-Q29), followed by two closing contact information questions. Please finish each page of the survey by pressing “Next” and then “Done” at the end of the survey to ensure that your answers are properly recorded. By enabling cookies for your browser, you can leave the survey and return to finish it later. TDWI will keep the survey live until July 27, 2020.

Please let me know if you have any difficulties in taking this survey. Once again, thank you for your important participation!

Sincerely,

David Stodder
