Submissions close 5pm Sunday 11 October 2026

The proposal for the American Foulbrood Beekeeper Levy for 2027/28 is for the base levy to remain the same at $40 (ex GST) per beekeeper, with an increase in the colony levy from $1.95 (ex GST) per colony to $2.20 (ex GST).

Thank you for making a submission on this proposal. Healthy honey bee colonies are vital to our beekeeping sector, and together we can protect them from AFB through cost-effective approaches, accurate data, targeted education, and good husbandry. The NZ Bee Health & Biosecurity (NZBB) Board of Trustees will consider all submissions and make a final announcement late October 2026.
