safesteps.org.au/live-chatSurvey purpose: We want to hear from people who have ever contacted a support service or professional in Australia for help with a situation at home or in a relationship that made them feel unsafe.
Sometimes this can involve behaviours from a partner, family member, or someone you live with that hurt you or make you feel scared. This might include things like controlling how you use money, monitoring where you go, threatening you, or physically hurting you. Experiences like these are sometimes referred to as family and domestic violence, although people may use different words to describe them.
Services you may have contacted could include:
- The Police, ambulance, or Triple Zero (000)
- A lawyer or legal service
- A settlement, refugee, or migrant support service
- Housing or crisis accommodation services
- A health professional, such as a doctor, nurse, counsellor, psychologist, or similar
- A crisis phone or online service (for example, Safe Steps, 1800Respect, Lifeline)
- A specialist relationship or safety support service
- A social worker or government worker
- A local community organisation or community centre
- Or similar
This survey is open to everyone, though we specifically encourage people seeking asylum, refugees, and other migrants to respond.
How your responses will be used: Filling out this form is voluntary and your answers are anonymous. This means anything you say can
not be linked back to you and will
not be shared with anyone. You can ask a trusted person (such as a friend, family member, or support worker) to help you complete this survey.
