2026 PSONS Student Nurse Academic Scholarship
Purpose: To support pre-licensure BSN and RN to BSN nursing students who are committed to oncology nursing.
- The scholarship must be used by December 31, 2026
Scholarship:
Two $1,000.00 PSONS scholarships can be applied to school-related expenses, such as tuition, or for fees, books, supplies, lab fees, and equipment required for approved courses for the 2026 academic year.
ONS Scholarship applicant requirements criteria:
1. The applicant must be a resident of Washington State or Alaska.
2. The applicant does not need to be a member of ONS/PSONS, but if awarded the scholarship, membership is required. Membership to ONS/PSONS for full-time student nurses working toward their degree is free.

3. The applicant must be currently enrolled in or accepted to an in-person (not online) Bachelor of Nursing degree program or an RN to BSN program at an ACEN or NLN-CNEA accredited School of Nursing in the 2026-2027 academic year.
4. The candidate must have a commitment to oncology.
5. The candidate must provide a letter of recommendation from a current work supervisor or academic advisor on organizational letterhead, signed by the individual providing the recommendation. The letter must be postmarked by November 30th and sent to the PSONS Scholarship Committee, PO Box 2027, Gig Harbor, WA.
6. Complete the online application below, which includes your biographical information and two brief essays describing how your professional goals relate to oncology nursing and how this scholarship will assist in achieving your stated goals. Describe your experience working with cancer patients and families or the cancer community as a leader, member, caregiver, or volunteer.
7. Your complete scholarship application must be submitted electronically.
8. The applicant can receive a scholarship from each category only once.
9. The scholarship committee will independently review each application and make recommendations to the PSONS Board. Considerations will be given to applicants who do not have other sources of funding. An applicant may not be eligible for a scholarship if another source of funding, like hospital/institution support, is available.
10. All applicants will be notified via the email provided in the application by December 19th, 2025.
11. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be asked to complete a short survey after attending the educational program or using the scholarship. Your input is significant and will help us improve the PSONS Scholarship Program.
12. As noted in the application, the scholarship recipient will be asked to provide a photo for recognition and meet a specific scholarship follow-up requirement.
