This survey aims to increase understanding of the higher education and sustainability career fields and related professions. It contains questions on engagement, position structure, salary, scope of work, supervision, and similar topics. AASHE will publish a follow-up report outlining final survey results.
To qualify for this survey, you must be in a PAID higher education sustainability position anywhere in the world, with at least 25 percent of your work dedicated to sustainability.
The survey has approximately 50 questions and should take about 30 minutes to complete. We encourage broad participation. Please take this survey and forward it to your sustainability colleagues!
PLEASE HAVE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION READY:
  • 2025 salary information, as presented on W2 or related tax documents, reported in U.S. dollars.
  • The full-time equivalency (FTE) of staff that you supervise
  • The size of budgets you control, reported in U.S. dollars.
  • Designation of a single, main point-person (one per institution).

Results will be reported in aggregate, and identifiable responses will not be shared. A redacted version of the survey data will be made available; individual responses will not be identifiable.
