2025 GCBBT Business Excellence Awards: Nominate a Business!

Nominate a Local Business to be honored during the 2025 Business Excellence Awards!

The awards criteria defines a small business as 50 employees or less.

Please complete and submit your Business Excellence Awards nominations before 5:00 pm Friday August 1, 2025. At that time, award category nominees will be collected and those categories requiring public vote will be released for voting.

Please note that to qualify as an award nominee, the business must be located in the area of Corner Brook, Bay of Islands, Humber Valley, or Deer Lake unless otherwise noted.

The GCBBT Business Excellence Awards ceremony will be held during Small Business Week™ 2025.

REQUIRED: To be considered valid, all nominations must include the requested details explaining why the business has been nominated. Unless otherwise noted, nominations of business name only may be categorized as invalid.
1.Customer Service Award: Recipient of this award is a business that consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction. The business provides honest and approachable service to its customers, practices on-going employee training to deliver quality service and product expertise, is known for customer service and reliability, and attributes sales growth/employment results to its delivery of quality service. This company goes above and beyond what is expected.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
2.Excellence in Marketing Award: Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated a strong understanding of the importance of a vibrant and active marketing presence. This presence must be found in a minimum of three (3) areas and can include a company website, active Facebook account, active Etsy account , or other marketing presence - all of which have gathered a strong and established following. Businesses may also be involved in online sales.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination including a list of 3 marketing locations the business has been viewed):
3.Rising Star Award: Recipient of this award is a business that has been operating for 1-5 years and has demonstrated strong potential via growth, innovation, and leadership during the first years of operation. The business has demonstrated a culture of risk-taking and trailblazing and has positioned itself to achieve similar successes in the future.

The award recipient is selected by a panel of business leaders.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
4.Local Impact Award: Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated a commitment to the community via community relations, volunteer involvement, and/or financial support of community based activities or groups. The business displays extraordinary social responsibility and enthusiasm by its total benefit to the community, amount of time, effort, and or any other form of leadership given in the community.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
5.Employer of the Year Award: Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated excellence in business operations in a number of areas including marketing, business retention and expansion, human resources, customer service, production, innovation, community involvement, etc. They are viewed by peers as being a leader and inspires the entrepreneurial spirit.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
6.Youth Business of the Year: Recipient of this award is a youth (aged 34 years or under) in recognition of their commitment to developing and operating a successful business. Eligible nominees may be completing their high school or post-secondary education. Success measures will vary depending on industry and may include revenue generation, customer validation, creativity, uniqueness, intellectual property, grants, awards, and scalability of the business model.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
7.Excellence in Energy Efficiency Award: Recipient of this award is a business that demonstrates an establishment's leadership and commitment to energy efficiency in our local business community through activities such as planning, project development, energy management and employee engagement. Examples of initiatives include but are not limited to: completing energy-efficient building upgrades; assisting employees or customers in adopting energy-efficient technology; and educating employees and/or customers on energy efficiency.

This award will be reviewed by TakeCHARGE NL and voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
8.Qalipu Business of the Year: Recipient of this award is a business which has demonstrated a dedication to business growth, a commitment to customer satisfaction, delivering quality products and services, and a strong supporter of their Mi’kmaq culture. The business owner must be a recognized member of the Qalipu First Nation Band.

This award will be voted on by the public as a factor in determining the recipient in addition to peer review, etc., unless otherwise stated.

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination must be included to validate the nomination):
9.People's Choice Award: Recipient of this award is a business that is a favorite of the community. It is awarded for simply being the most popular business in the community as deemed by local residents. 

The award recipient is voted on by the public. 

For this award category, I would like to nominate the following business (in addition to business name, please include specific details demonstrating the reason for this nomination):
10.Business Hall of Fame Award: Recipient of this award is an individual who has left an enduring legacy of business excellence. Having been a respected leader in their field of operations, the person has had a direct impact on the business community and inspired a new generation of entrepreneurs. This may be awarded to an individual still in business, enjoying retirement, or posthumously.

The award recipient is selected by a panel of business leaders. This award may not be awarded every year, and/or there may be multiple recipients a year. Recipients become members of the Greater Corner Brook Business Walk of Fame.
