Binge-Eating: Brain, Behavior, and Cognition
  • Purpose: increase our understanding of the relationship between brain processes, thoughts, and
    behaviors with binge eating.
  • May be eligible: Are 18 – 65 years old and experience binge eating (where you feel out of
    control while eating and overeat) at least once weekly
Cognitive and Reward Influences on Binge Eating (CORE)
  • Purpose: Increase our understanding of the relationship between brain processes, thoughts, and behaviors with binge eating.
  • May be eligible: Are 18 – 65 years old and experience binge eating (where you feel out of control while eating and overeat) at least once weekly
Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative 2 (EDGI2)
  • Purpose: In collaboration with researchers at the University of North Carolina (UNC), we are inviting adults across the U.S. who have ever had (or thought they might have had) an eating disorder to participate in this at-home research study.
  • May be eligible: Age 18 years or older AND have ever dealt with
    • restricting food to prevent weight gain or other signs of anorexia nervosa OR,
    • loss of control or overeating (or binge eating) or other signs of binge-eating disorder OR,
    • making yourself throw up, exercising hard, using laxatives, or something else (bulimia nervosa) OR,
    • extreme picky eating, low appetite, or fear around eating, or other signs of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)
Biome and Reward as Mechanisms for EtOH Use (BREW ME)
  • Purpose: Identify risk factors for hazardous alcohol use after bariatric surgery (e.g., changes in microbiome, pharmacokinetics of alcohol, reward value of alcohol).
  • May be eligible: Are 21 – 70 years old, in evaluation for bariatric surgery, have drank 1 or more alcoholic beverages in the past 6 months.
Attention, Memory, Binge
  • Purpose: Explore the relationship between brain activity, self-reported food craving and binge eating episodes.
  • May be eligible: Age 18-65, BMI in the range of 18 to 30 and have not engaged in binge eating (where you overeat and feel out of control while doing so).
