Microbiome, Stress Response and Eating Behaviors
  • Purpose: examine relationships between gut microbiota, stress reactivity, food reward value, and stress-related eating.
  • May be eligible: Age 18-50 and BMI of 25 and above.
Biome and Reward as Mechanisms for EtOH Use (BREW ME)
  • Purpose: Identify risk factors for hazardous alcohol use after bariatric surgery (e.g., changes in microbiome, pharmacokinetics of alcohol, reward value of alcohol).
  • May be eligible: Are 21 – 70 years old, in evaluation for bariatric surgery, drink 1 or more alcoholic beverages per month.
Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative 2 (EDGI2)
  • Purpose: In collaboration with researchers at the University of North Carolina (UNC), we are inviting adults across the U.S. who have ever had (or thought they might have had) an eating disorder to participate in this at-home research study.
  • May be eligible: Age 18 years or older AND have ever dealt with
    • restricting food to prevent weight gain or other signs of anorexia nervosa OR,
    • loss of control or overeating (or binge eating) or other signs of binge-eating disorder OR,
    • making yourself throw up, exercising hard, using laxatives, or something else (bulimia nervosa) OR,
    • extreme picky eating, low appetite, or fear around eating, or other signs of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)
