Tell my children that medicines can be dangerous if not given to them by a parent, doctor, or nurse.

Talk with my children about Rx drug dangers, warning them about the harms of sharing or misusing Rx drugs not prescribed to them. Including these drugs in my "don't do drugs" talk.

Lock Rx and Over-the-Counter medications in my home that some kids and adults misuse to get high or stoned. (Narcotic Pain relievers, Sleeping Pills, Tranquilizers, Stimulants, Cough Medicines)

Be a good role model with Rx drugs and not misuse them, combine them with alcohol, or share them with people they are not prescribed to.

Dispose of my uneeded or unwanted Rx drugs at the Tahoe-Truckee Safe Disposal Bin located at Truckee Police Department, Placer County Sheriff's Station in Tahoe City, or at the Rx Take Back Events held in the spring and fall.

Consider rejecting large narcotic prescriptions for acute pain, taking the smallest amount needed and getting a refill if necessary. I will consult my physcian for options.
