FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team Support Application Fall 2014 / Winter 2015 Season administered by the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP)  Team Support is defined as financially assisting a team with costs for registration, kits, spare parts and other team related items.

PLEASE read before proceeding:

This application does not allow you to save and complete at a later date. A worksheet is available on the ORTOP website to help you collect the necessary information prior to filling out the application. This application is for both new and returning teams to apply for Team Support.

Financial need is a key consideration. Any information you can give regarding the financial means of your team members will help us evaluate your application and will be held in confidence. We do not ask for names of your team members so their privacy is assured.

We encourage coaches to recruit team members who might not otherwise participate in this type of program. Consideration is given to teams that include girls, Native American, African American and Latino youth. Additional considerations include the team's commitment to conducting regular meetings and actively participating in qualifying tournaments or league play, depending on which are available in their area.

CHANGES FOR 2014: This application is for ONE team. If a school or organization wishes to apply for more than one team, separate applications must be submitted. You must identify two coaches for each team. Each of these coaches must commit to completing The FIRST Youth Protection Program (YPP) background check. For more Information on FIRST's YPP go to http://www3.usfirst.org/aboutus/youth-protection-program

Teams who have received a grant from the Oregon or Washington Department of Education are not eligible for Team Support.

ORTOP reviews each application and creates a package from one or more of funding sources. Applications will be processed approximately weekly during August.

Team Support will be awarded based on the quality of the application including financial need as applications are received. Applications will be reviewed and awarded bi-weekly starting in August. The ORTOP FTC Team Support application deadline is October 25, 2014 unless available funds are exhausted before that date.

We encourage coaches to recruit team members who might not otherwise participate in this type of program. Teams in Clark County are encouraged to apply for a State of Washington iGrant or before applying to ORTOP.

FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for students from seventh through twelfth grade. No more than 15 students can be on one team. The average FTC team has 8 to 10 students.

Please complete all questions fully. Applications received without complete information will not be considered. If you have any problems completing the online application please contact Cathy Swider at cathy_swider@ortop.org or 503-725-2920.
