Welcome to the registration site for the first 2012-2013 school year statewide training series!
Please complete this online registration to attend the Positioning Complex Bodies to Support Engagement, Performance, and Access to Assistive Technology workshop presented by Karen Kangas. Be careful with capitalization and spelling as this is the database for your nametag and other pertinent documents. This workshop is a full-day event (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) On-site Registration will begin at 8:00 AM on the day of the workshop.

Working with the Experts will offer CEUs at no cost for the following professionals:
.6 CEUs (6 contact hours) – Physical Therapists Florida Gulf Coast University, Department of Physical Therapy & Human Performance has been approved by the Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA) to offer continuing education activities and is a co-sponsor of this event.
.6 CEUs (6 contact hours)– Occupational Therapists Pinellas County Public Schools has been approved by the Florida Occupational Therapy Association (FOTA) to offer continuing education activities and is a co-sponsor of this event.
Individuals seeking CEUs will be required to complete a pretest and posttest online, award of CEUs will require a minimum score of 80% on the posttest and CEU certificates will be issued by WWE.
Karen Kangas is an occupational therapist with 30 + years of experience working with the evaluation and treatment of unique positioning needs of all individuals. Her contributions to the field of occupational therapy include:
Established training strategies with teachers/therapists/parents, and/or primary caregivers.
Advanced assessment processes for individuals who are severely disabled. Instructs using a “hands-on” approach through the use of sensory-motor integration, body positioning, and neurophysiology.
Participants will be able to:
Perform seating assessment for task performance
Identify seating equipment needed for “postural management” vs. “postural control”
Identify mobility and access treatment strategies
Apply and implement treatment strategies for mobility and access
Perform a task analysis of an activity as the student’s seating/positioning needs change
Remember that space is limited to the first 80 or 100 registrants, as indicated below in question 10. You will receive a separate notification if you have been placed onto the waiting list.
