Recently, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) issued a request for comments from companies participating in the Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) program, and we need your help today.

Although the SBIR program provides for a Phase III for follow-on/commercialization funding of SBIR technology and the law requires agencies to give Phase III preference “to the greatest extent practicable”, we are still hearing from companies that cannot access Phase III funds, or face serious hurdles along the way.

Additionally, we also have a few questions for winners of the DOD’s Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) program, which has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars to help small businesses commercialize their Phase II technology, but it has not yet been funded this fiscal year, and may expire next year.

As the nation’s leading advocate for the SBIR program, the Small Business Technology Council (SBTC) is urging you to complete our survey today. With your help, we will be able to get a better idea of what are the biggest and most common issues facing companies seeking Phase III funds, and work to remedy those hurdles.

This survey will take no more than five minutes of your time and all answers will be anonymous and confidential.
