Introduction - Objectives of the survey

The Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services (CSES) and Risk & Policy Analysts (RPA) together with Ökopol Institut für Ökologie und Politik GmbH (Ökopol) are carrying out a study on the REACH Regulation on behalf of the European Commission’s DG Growth (former DG Enterprise and Industry).

The purpose of this survey is to obtain feedback on the impacts of REACH implementation during the 2010 -2013 period in respect of the promotion of innovation and competitiveness and to assess how the Regulation has impacted on SMEs (compliance costs, changes in business practices, benefits, etc.).

The following list of questions is directed to European and national industry associations. We would like to receive feedback on the basis of your experience of your members from the implementation of REACH to this point.  The questions cover a number of thematic areas such as the contribution of REACH to the single market and harmonisation, the impacts on external competitiveness, the registration costs for 2013, Authorisation, SIEFs and Consortia, and preparation for REACH 2018.

Note that you are not expected to answer every question. Please focus on the topics that you are best able to contribute to and are of most relevance.

In case it is considered useful a pdf version of the survey can be downloaded from here.

The survey will remain open until March 20th.

If you have any questions about confidentiality or prefer to complete the survey in a PDF or Word version, please contact Jan Smit or Achilleas Tsamis by email (reach-monitoring@cses.co.uk). Thank you in advance for your input.
