Introduction - Northeast Region

The Soil and Water Resources Conservation Act (RCA) of 1977 requires the United States Department of Agriculture to periodically appraise the capability of the nation's natural resources to meet current and future food demands. This survey is part of the public participation phase of the RCA. The data gathered here will be melded with information acquired at regional Round Table discussions that are to take place this Fall 2014.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is leading this effort in collaboration with other USDA agencies included the Agricultural Research Service, Climate Change Program Office, Forest Service, Farm Service Agency, Rural Development, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and Risk Management Agency. NRCS has also enlisted the Farm Foundation NFP to coordinate this survey and the regional Round Table sessions.

Your responses will be CONFIDENTIAL and the survey's results will be aggregated and distributed/presented to the USDA leadership, Congress, and the public.

The survey will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to complete and will ask you about regional extremes in weather, water resource management, soil health, and the resilience of soil and water resources to meet future food demands. Thank you for your time.
