CHEC is holding our second National Forum for leaders in Christian higher education, May 25-27, 2015 at Canadian Mennonite University, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Our theme, Faithful Student Formation: Shaping a New Generation, will focus on student formation in all of its varying dimensions--intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional--as we seek to challenge Christian educators to be faithful in carrying out this crucial task. CACSD (Canadian Assoc for Christians in Student Development) will hold its annual conference in conjunction with the Forum. Subthemes will include student mental health (in cooperation with CACSD), student spiritual formation, developing a comprehensive Biblical worldview, formation of a sense of calling and vocation (rather than just employment) and equipping for cultural engagement in our pluralistic context. In each of these areas tracks will also deal with the differing realities and approaches for graduate/seminary students and for Indigenous Peoples. The National Forum will also be an opportunity to raise the profile of Christian higher education in Canada which we believe will have direct benefits for our member campuses. Administrative leaders, faculty, and students will be inspired and challenged to deepen their understanding of their place in Christian higher education as a national movement.

Call for Proposals: The National Forum is also a unique opportunity to gather with your peers and colleagues from CHEC institutions and to develop new professional relationships with those from across Canada in similar positions. Together we will examine current trends and share and discuss best practices amongst our members that will improve our efficiency and effectiveness in crucial areas. To this end, CHEC is seeking the cooperation of leaders from our various campuses to step forward and contribute or suggest the names of participants who can make a contribution.

The schedule will include plenary sessions, general breakouts and peer-group breakouts. We invite you to submit a proposal for the general and peer-group breakouts showcasing academic and co-curricular practices and programs on your campus related to your field or the Forum theme.

Proposed papers/presentations/panel discussions might include:
• presenting an empirical study or set of reflections in an area of your expertise
• offering a model for improving efficiency and effectiveness within your area of expertise
• showcasing academic and co-curricular practices and programs on your campus
• sharing a developmental plan or program that has improved your service

If you are recommending a leader for us to contact, please include their area of expertise and the possible subject of their breakout. The time allotted for papers/presentations/panel discussions is 75 minutes, of which at least 15 minutes should be for inviting dialogue with participants. You are encouraged to collaborate with colleagues from within and beyond your institution in preparing a proposal.

Please complete the online RFP form no later than February 13, 2015.
