Dear FSSA Member:

The Halon Alternatives Research Corporation (HARC), with support from FSSA, NAFED, and FEMA, has been gathering data regarding emissions of HFC’s for over ten years. Project HEEP (HFC Emissions Estimating Program) has played an important role in communicating the fire protection industry’s careful product stewardship over the chemical fire extinguishing agents used in our industry. The survey below will be helpful in assuring that we are capturing accurate and complete data.

What will happen to the survey?

HARC will determine that total amount of each type of agent that is recycled for recharge purpose in-house by distributor/installers. Only these totals are of interest – individual responses will only be used to compile the totals – once the totals are developed, the individual responses will be deleted. The totals will be compared by HARC to the existing HEEP data. If the totals from the survey show that the amount of HFC agent that is recycled in-house by distributor/installers is insignificant compared to the existing HEEP emissions totals, no correction to the existing data will be made. If the data from the survey shows that the HEEP data needs correction, HARC will correct the existing HEEP data using the totals reported in the survey.

All responses to the survey will be considered to be submitted anonymously. All information provided will be kept confidential and only viewed by Tom Cortina, Executive Director of HARC, for tabulation purposes. HARC is also the recipient of the HEEP data.

Please complete this survey only once, even if you are a member of multiple trade associations (e.g. FSSA and NAFED, etc.).
