The Poynter Institute will conduct a series of journalism workshops in India during March 2014. The workshops are designed to share American journalism training ideas and best practices with Indian journalists and educators, while exploring how to strengthen the ties between journalism and education in both countries.

The workshops will include training sessions on editorial best practices, ethical challenges, business and editorial cooperation and journalism education development.

* Chennai, Tamil Nadu: March 19, 20, 21 (At Taj Club House)
* Kochi, Kerala: March 23, 24, 25 (At Gateway, Taj)
* Bangalore, Karnataka: March 27, 28, 29 (At Vivanta by Taj)

Planned topics include: (Full syllabus here)

* Ethics session that introduces the values of truth telling, independence and minimizing harm, and tools for better decision making.
* Storytelling in the digital age, including multimedia and interactivity, ethics and pitfalls.
* Coaching reporters and student journalists; brainstorming and finding focus.
* Writing and editing with clarity.
* Social media tools in newsroom and classroom.
* Editorial-business collaboration.
* Leadership in times of turbulent change.

Who should apply: These workshops are intended for mid-career journalists, mid and high level editors and managers, media business professionals and journalism and media educators.

Participants are responsible for their travel arrangements.
