Welcome to My Survey

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important. The Child and Family Services Act (CFSA) is required to undergo a mandatory review every five years. As the most recent review was in 2010, the next review will occur in 2015. To ensure that the voices of Aboriginal women and their families are considered by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) in this review, ONWA and our Aboriginal partners will be preparing a comment for their consideration.

For Aboriginal people, the right to jurisdiction over our children and the rights of those children to maintain connection to their families and communities are paramount. The lessons offered by the legacy of Residential Schools and the 60's Scoop provide clear evidence that the negative effects of child removal reverberates through subsequent generations. In order to ensure our children are safe, cared for, and have access to culture-based learning opportunities, programs and services, ONWA is looking for input in the preparation of our submission.

The following Survey invites you to provide your comments about the Child and Family Services Act in anticipation of this year's review. All submissions will be kept in strict confidence. No names are requested on the Survey itself. However, there is a prize to be awarded to one participant so, if you wish to be considered for the draw, please make sure to include your name and contact information on the page provided. This form will be detached from the survey itself and entered into a draw for a Nexus tablet.

If you wish to discuss this survey further or if you have any questions or concerns please consult the Director of Policy and Research, Kezia Picard at kpicard@onwa.ca or by phone at 1-807-625-8576
