1. Centropa Summer Academy Application for EU & Israel participants

Dear Educators from Europe and Israel!

We are pleased to announce that Centropa’s 8th Summer Academy--CSA--will be held this year in Vienna and Sarajevo from 9-17 July. The program can be found here: http://bit.ly/1dw5TyJ.

We will have to limit participation this year to 65 people from Europe, the US and Israel and preference will go to teachers who have used Centropa in their classes and have documented their projects.

1) Describe below the way(s) you have used Centropa. If you are a museum educator, curriculum writer, or state or county education staff person, tell us how you have used Centropa in the past, or plan to use our resources in the coming year.

2) Basic information regarding the CSA:

* We begin in Vienna on Wednesday 9 July at 12:30. The program ends the evening of 16 July (participants can depart either on the evening of 16 July or on the morning of 17 July.)

* Travel: Once you have been invited to participate, please look for the cheapest airplane ticket from your hometown to Vienna and from Sarajevo to your hometown. Centropa will reimburse European participants up to an amount of €250. Israeli participants will be reimbursed for up to €450.

NOTE: We can only reimburse you upon display of receipts for the purchase of your airplane ticket AND the boarding pass.

* Bus from Vienna to Sarajevo: We will leave Vienna on Saturday morning and stay overnight in Zagreb, where we will have a private dinner with Slavko Goldstein, author of 1941, a Holocaust memoir. On Sunday we will continue to Sarajevo. Costs will be covered by Centropa.

NOTE: If you are religiously observant and cannot travel on Saturday, please contact us and we will make your arrangements for you for that Sunday.

* You will be responsible for your expenses getting to and from all airports.

* Should you wish to arrive in Vienna early or stay in Sarajevo longer, we ask that you make these arrangements on your own - we are a small team and have our hands full with the seminar preparations.

* CSA participants will be required to complete a pre-trip assignment, which we will describe in the registration form. In addition, participants will read The Hare with Amber Eyes, and several essays on Vienna and Sarajevo, all of which we will discuss during the trip.

* By filling out this application you agree to:
- use Centropa's resources in the coming school year;
- share your lessons, projects or programs with Centropa at no charge;
- fill out surveys throughout the year about how you use Centropa;
- introduce Centropa to at least two of your colleagues.

* Kosher meals/dietary restrictions. We will be happy to oblige you.

Kosher food surcharge will be €15 per day.

We can also arrange for strictly vegetarian food prepared by a strictly vegetarian restaurant, for a €7 daily charge. Once accepted, you will indicate kashrut and other dietary needs on the registration form.

*3-4 meals will be at your expense, during free evenings.

* 10. We believe that our approach to 20th Century Jewish European History is unique and should become part of curricula and programming in more public and private schools, synagogues and museums.
As a small non-profit organization, Centropa relies on our community of educators to reach more teachers and students and to expand our educational network and resources.

- put us in touch with at least 2 educators who might attend our 2014-2015 seminars,
