In this section, we ask that you rank topics covered in the 2012 Trends Report you feel are just as or more important today.

For reference, the topics covered in the 2012 report were:

Medical Society Management: A broad review of topics affecting medical societies and physicians including healthcare reform, technology, CME, and competition from outside entities.

Quality of Care and Patient Safety: How medical societies prepare physicians to address issues related to patient care including increased focus on access to healthcare, quality of care, costs, and patient safety.

Delivery Model Changes: A look at the effect changes in healthcare delivery models have on the medical industry, such as Accountable Care Organizations, Patient Centered Medical Homes, and the increase of physicians employed by hospitals and health systems.

Changing Roles of Non-Physician Providers: A review of physician workforce shortage issues and the increasing role non-physician providers (such as mid-level practitioners, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) play in the healthcare system.

Innovation Within Payment Systems: Helping physicians address changes in payment systems from pay-for-performance and gain sharing, to bundling and shared savings models.

Membership as a Value Proposition: The issue of identifying and increasing the value proposition of membership in medical societies and effectively promoting this value to physicians.

Adjusting to the New Communications Landscape: A review of the changing communications landscape and how medical societies adapt to new technologies and media to keep communications relevant and effective.

Finally, AAMSE will be offering a session at the 2014 Annual Conference relating to the Trends Report initiative.

The session, "How to Use the AAMSE Trends Report to Better Serve Your Members", will be held on Friday, August 1 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. during the conference in Louisville, KY.

The planned format for the session is a roundtable discussion that will include updates on the 2012 Trends Report as well as case studies of medical societies that used the report for strategic planning and other initiatives within their organizations.
