What would you like to see happen at the TNOC Summit?

The Nature of Cities Summit will happen 4-7 June 2019, in Paris. The principal aim of  the Summit is to spark conversations across ways of knowing and modes of action to build a movement—a new collaborative and transdisciplinary movement for green cities that are just, livable, resilient, and sustainable.

We'd like to engage you as we prepare: we'd like to hear what you'd like to see and do at the Summit. What session topics and conversations would you value most?

The summit will have five integrated thematic pillars, reflecting the cities we need: justice, livability, health, resilience, and sustainability. Sessions will be organized around these five urban goals, focused on specific local challenges, but always mixing disciplines, points of view, ways of knowing, and modes of action. The key overarching challenge for every session is: How can collaboration inform dialogue and propel better cities?

Meetings of disciplinary groups have formats that are familiar and comfortable to those within the discipline. But the intentionally diverse summit we imagine begs a question: What will such a diverse gathering do together outside of the familiar formats of disciplines?

The program details are in development, but we will convene around key urban challenges, projects, or questions, or “seeds” to be explored collaboratively. The Summit will emphasize curated encounters among attendees, in workshop settings, problem-solving sessions, roundtable discussions, and interdisciplinary networking cafés.

Use this short survey to let us know what you'd like to see happen at the Summit.
