In October 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) announced the third round of the Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge (RPIC) to provide planning support and technical assistance to foster placemaking and spur economic development in rural communities. In collaboration with USDA RD, Atlas Community Studios has launched the Rural Placemaking Accelerator to develop placemaking action plans and provide implementation technical assistance to two communities: Tunica County, Mississippi and Emporia, Kansas. Atlas has partnered with the Tunica County Board of Supervisors and a diverse set of community leaders to guide this process from ideation to implementation.
During this process, we will focus on several topics including:
  • Public Infrastructure & Transportation
  • Workforce Development
  • Small Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Quality of Place*
*Quality of Place encompasses housing, parks and recreation, arts and culture, tourism, etc.

Through this survey, Atlas is asking for your input and ideas to help shape the future of Tunica County! Please take 5 minutes to share your feedback. Your responses will remain anonymous. We appreciate your participation in this project!
