For water, waste water, and solid waste infrastructure projects

June 1, 2016

Dear Prospective Grantee/Loanee:

As you are aware, each year the New Mexico Legislature allocates a portion of the severance tax bond capacity towards infrastructure funding in the state.  In anticipation of the upcoming Legislative session in January 2017 and the potential for funding next fiscal year through legislative appropriation, and state and federal funding opportunities,  we ask that you take a few minutes to complete this years’ survey, accessible at https://www.env.nm.gov/wit/ .

We are sending the survey earlier in the calendar year than we have previously, to more closely align the process with deadlines for grant and loan programs that the Environment Department and other state and/or federal agencies administer.  We ask that you answer each question in the survey with as much detail as possible so that we can clearly identify the scope and intent of your project.  This will assist us in answering any questions your legislators may have regarding the project before and during the next legislative session, as well as allow us to better match the prospective water and wastewater projects with funding.

Please be aware that taking part in this survey is not mandatory in order to be eligible for capital outlay funding and that filling it out does not gurantee that you will receive funding.  However it will allow state agencies like the Environment Department to better understand your water and wastewater needs prior to the session and to advise the Legislature and the Executive of these needs.

Please complete the survey no later than July 14, 2016.  If you have any questions regarding this request or the survey itself, please do not hesitate to contact our team at water.team@state.nm.us.  If you are unable to access the online survey please call (800) 219-6157 to have a copy printed and mailed to you.

Very Truly Yours,

Ryan Flynn

Cabinet Secretary
New Mexico Environment Department
