Hello and many thanks for taking part of the State of Testing Survey.

The fact that you are reading this introduction to our survey means that you care about the future of testing, and want to continue pushing forward the work and the value we provide as testing professionals in this ever-changing world of software development and IT.

The reason behind this project is simple, and it hasn't changed since we started back in 2013.  We want to shed light on the current status of testing and analyze the trends and challenges of our profession. We believe that by doing this we have a better chance of succeeding in the challenge to provide value as a tester in 2019 and beyond.

As always we are not doing this project alone,  just like every year we got the support and help of a group of leading testing professionals from around the world to make sure the survey is still relevant and up to date.  We want to thanks our Review Committee; Lisa Crispin, Anna Roysman, Huib Schoots, Keizo Tatsumi, and John Thomas; for their time and especially their feedback on this survey.

Also for the first time since the start of our project, we could not get the feedback from Jerry Weinberg, who sadly passed away last year.  Jerry, you are and will continue to be missed!

But once again, looking towards the future, we want to thank you again for taking the time to help us by filling out this survey with your feedback and experience.

It will also be great if you can share this survey with as many testers as you can in your company and beyond.

By supporting this project you are helping push the world of testing forward!

Thank you and wishing you a great 2019!
