Project Background and Consent Information

This study is being conducted by researchers from across the UK and seeks to undertake an online survey of the psychological welfare of those who participate, or are directly involved (e.g., coaches, support staff), in sport. We are interested in exploring the state of psychological welfare of those involved in sport across different national and cultural contexts in an attempt to gain an overview of the potential impact of working and/or competing in sport on well-being.

You have been chosen because you are 18 years of age or over and participate, or are involved, in sport in some form. The risks associated with completing the online survey are minimal, meaning no greater than everyday experiences. In rare instances, you may be uncomfortable answering certain questions. However, you do not have to answer a question if you do not want to and you may cease your participation at any time. There are no correct or incorrect answers, please answer as honestly as possible. There are no immediate benefits of participation.

Research records will be kept confidential, consistent with federal, state and national regulations. Only the primary investigator and research team will have access to the data which will be kept on a password-protected computer in a locked room. To protect your privacy, personal, identifiable information will be removed from study documents and replaced with a study identifier. Identifying information will be stored separately from data and will be kept until the conclusion of data collection. Participants who take part in the online surveys will remain anonymous.

Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the research team if you have any questions or require further information:
