Question Title

About Robyn Allen

Robyn Allen sadly succumbed to an anaphylactic reaction in 1990, just months before her 16th birthday. A lack of awareness of the severity of anaphylaxis contributed to her death, and her parents, Marilyn and Bob Allen, have made it their mission to ensure that Robyn’s story continues to be a beacon of awareness, encouraging others to strive to better the lives of those with potentially life-threatening allergies.

The Robyn Allen Award is given by the Allen family in appreciation to those who champion anaphylaxis-related causes through awareness building and influence change that impacts quality of life through improved policies, research, education, and advocacy.

To be eligible, you must be one of the following:
  • health care professional
  • industry representative (e.g. food manufacturer, foodservice)
  • government representative
  • an individual involved with food allergy
In addition, you must be an outstanding advocate and leader, effecting change and improving the lives of those at risk for anaphylaxis, in one or more of the following areas:
  • advocacy
  • policy changes
  • advancement in research
  • societal awareness
  • fundraising
  • promotion of Food Allergy Canada’s mission
Not eligible: Food Allergy Canada staff, consultants, or Board of Directors

A list of eligible candidates will be provided to the Award Committee, who, in conjunction with the Allen family, will decide the winner.
The winner will be announced in May 2019. Subject to funding, Marilyn and Bob will present the award to the recipient.
