The 4rd Annual Youth Fishing Camp will take place from Tuesday, June 23 through Thursday, June 25 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
It will be based at Rocky Point State Park in Warwick.
Funding will be provided by the RISAA Foundation, R.I. Recreational Saltwater Fishing License Fund and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service through the Sportfishing Fund.
There will be 50 kids, ages 7-12, split into five groups according to age and experience.
The three day agenda will be:
Tuesday: on shore lessons and casting/fishing from the shore
Wednesday: everyone boards a bus to Galilee for a day of fishing on the Seven Bs.
Thursday: kids all fish in RISAA member boats around Warwick area, then afternoon casting contests, etc.
Instructors will consist of a few RISAA members, RIDEM staff, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and others.
We need at least 15 RISAA member volunteers to work as group leaders.
(Note: ONLY RISAA MEMBERS MAY VOLUNTEER)
We also will need up to 20 member boat owners to participate on the morning of Thursday, June 25.
Boaters will receive free fuel from the fuel dock at Greenwich Bay Marina.
All volunteers will receive an auto mileage stipend.
