Attendance at the Nurturing Doula Dreams Postpartum Doula Workshop counts as one step towards certification as a postpartum doula through DONA International. The registration fee is covered through the WV Perinatal Partnership and grant funding through UNICare.  The certification process is taught in the workshop, but details may also be found at https://www.dona.org/become-a-doula/postpartum-doula-certification

If you prefer another DONA postpartum doula workshop, please provide the details to Shauna or Denise.

You will be expected to complete the postpartum doula requirements within 3-6 months of course completion.  These assignments include observations, reading books on birth, parenting, and breastfeeding and writing assignments.

After completion of the course, you will be expected to build a client base and give postpartum doula care to West Virginia mothers in your area.  You will be able to be reimbursed for the care you give according to DONA business practices.

Begin by building networks and relationships with local community services such as WIC, RFTS and other home visitation groups; clothing and food banks; local hospital L&D nurse managers and childbirth instructors; and provider offices. Provide a list of those resources for your community to Denise at Denise.Smith8625@gmail.com or Shauna at Shauna.Lively@gmail.com
