The nominations process is now open for Director positions on the ORCID Board. For the 2020 election, we have 5 open positions: 4 member representatives and one researcher representative.

Who is Eligible? All ORCID members are eligible to nominate a representative. Researcher representatives need not be affiliated with a member organization. We welcome self-nominations and nominations from second parties, using the form below.

Board Responsibilities: The ORCID Board is responsible for ensuring the organization is acting in the best interests of ORCID stakeholders. To this end, the Board provides strategic guidance for the successful achievement of ORCID’s mission. The Board oversees the management of ORCID and its organizational performance, reviews high-level organizational goals and policies, makes high-level decisions, reviews Executive Director performance, and serves as a community advocate for ORCID. The Board is supported by the Executive Director and a full-time professional staff, who are responsible for day-to-day operations and recommending goals and policies. Board members must commit to attending in-person meetings 3 times per annum. For more about the roles and responsibilities of ORCID Board Directors, please see our Elections webpage http://orcid.org/content/Board-elections.

Nominations Process: All applications received by 1 August 2019 will be reviewed by the ORCID Nominations Committee, chaired by Alison Mitchell. Full details of the process are available at https://orcid.org/content/nominating-committee-charter. From the nominations, the Nominating Committee will draw up a slate that takes into account balance by sector, region, board skills, and non-profit status requirements established in the ORCID bylaws.
