Side-events are events that take place in conjunction with official United Nations Meetings, organized for the purpose of sharing experiences and increasing opportunities for informal dialogue among the meeting participants. All side-events held at UN Headquarters MUST be organized by, or in collaboration with, a Member State or a UN entity or an NGO in consultative status with ECOSOC.

United Nations Member States and Agencies are invited to inform UNDESA's Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) of any other planned side-events in order to include the event in the list of side-events to the meeting. Please contact us at to provide event information.
Please note the following:
  • Respondents can re-enter the online form at any time to update their responses.
  • Governments, UN agencies and civil society organizations can submit an application to conduct side-events at OEWGA;
    Civil society organizations (CSOs) include non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Consultative Status with ECOSOC and Accredited NGOs to the OEWGA;
  • Side-events should be related to the work of the OEWGA;
  • Due to space limitations, every attempt will be made to accommodate all side-events; however, priority will be given to multi-stakeholder events that include Governments, UN agencies and civil society organizations.

  • The deadline for submission of online application forms for side-events is 26 June 2017 by 11:30 p.m. New York Time;
  • UNDESA DSPD will post a of list all confirmed side-events by 29 June 2017 on the website of OEWGA at;

Room allocation and services: 
  • UN conference rooms are free of charge; 
  • Side-event organizers are responsible for all costs related to technical services (audio/visual, webcasting etc.) provided by UN Facilities and Management Services and if your event has been confirmed you will receive detailed information on how to request technical services;
  • Refreshments are optional and can be provided (Side-event organizers should contact the official UN caterer, CulinArt Group, directly (;

UNDESA DSPD is not responsible if technical services requested are not provided due to non-payment of your invoice
