NAfME is seeking conference proposals for the 2017 NAfME National In-service Conference to be held in Grapevine, Texas, November 12-15, 2017.

The objective of this conference is to celebrate the great diversity of music learners, music teaching and music making that will impact the future of music education.  The NAfME In-Service Conference supports the Association’s Mission and Goals: “To advance the music education by promoting the understanding and making of music by all”.

Session proposals will be accepted that address all forward-looking aspects of music education in each of the artistic processes of Performing, Creating, and Responding. Proposals are welcome in all subdisciplines of PreK-12 music education, including but not limited to band, orchestra, chorus, general music, guitar, technology, and vernacular music. Proposals are especially sought that deal with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access as related to curricular issues and instructional strategies.

All proposals should include provision for interactive participation by attendees. Where a large amount of information must be imparted, the Committee will be delighted to consider proposals that integrate the conference presentation with related pre- or post-event webinars.

The NAfME Professional Development committee will be guided in the selection of sessions by the following criteria: quality of presentation (objectives and organization); innovative content that opens doors to the future of music education; importance and timeliness of the topic to the field; practical applicability and program balance.

All proposal forms are due by January 31, 2017, Midnight Pacific time.
