Is the Ability to Make Meaning Correlated to Marital Satisfaction?

Researcher: Elizabeth Reyes-Fournier, PhD

Description of study: Marriage is considered a 50/50 proposition with nearly half of all couples divorcing. Marital Satisfaction depends on the level of happiness the individuals feel about their marriage, the couples perceptions and beliefs regarding marriage and the quality of their marital interaction. Making meaning has been shown to decrease anxiety, ameliorate the effects of trauma and generally create a sense of well-being. The purpose of the study is to determine whether marital satisfaction is related to the presence and search for meaning in life. All responses are anonymous and the answers are held within an encrypted server.
