Thank you for your interest in applying for the Magic City Match Grow Stage! Before we dive into the application, here are some program details to clarify who should apply for this program and what awardees will receive.  

Who should apply?: 
The Grow Stage is open to business owners who meet the following criteria: 
  • Black American Descendant of Slavery; 
  • Owner of a for-profit business that has been located in a brick-and-mortar space for a minimum of one year; 
  • Current City of Birmingham business license; and 
  • Ability to share most recent two years of tax returns for business. 
What will I get? 
Up to 10 awardees will receive: 
  • Either technical assistance or grant funding: 
    • Technical Assistance Awards – Services from professional service providers such as accountants, marketing experts, lawyers, architects, and business planning consultants to help meet your biggest business needs. Services will be valued at approximately $4,000-$6,000 per awardee. 
    • Grant funding – Grants of up to $5,000 to help fund physical business improvements or growth expenses. Funding can be used for expenses including, but not limited to, façade improvements, signage, interior improvements, technology upgrades, and payroll for a new employee. Funding cannot be used for ongoing business expenses, such as rent or payroll for current employees.  
  • Individualized business coaching through REV Birmingham. 
  • Preparation for financing and support to identify business lending opportunities.
