City of Newcastle, in partnership with Maitland City Council, Cessnock City Council and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water are undertaking a Flood Study for the Hexham and Woodberry Swamp catchment areas.

The focus of the Flood Study is on flash flooding for the local creeks and drainage channels which flow to Hexham and Woodberry Swamps, rather than on flooding from the Hunter River or the swamps themselves.

Suburbs within the study area include, but are not limited to, the following.

Newcastle LGA Wallsend, Jesmond, Shortland, Elermore Vale, Rankin Park, Maryland, Beresfield, Fletcher, Minmi, Black Hill (part).
Maitland LGA Thornton, Woodberry, Millers Forest.
Cessnock LGA Stockrington, Black Hill (part).


This survey will take about 5 to 10 minutes depending on the level of detail you provide.
