1. Introductory Information

Dear Centropa Seminar Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in Centropa's East Coast Winter Seminar, to be held at Duke University, Durham, NC. The seminar will begin at 11 am on Saturday, March 16 and end at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 17.

Through this application we learn more about you and also gather information that will help us plan the seminar.

Though we would like to include everyone in the seminar we have limited funding to invite educators from public and parochial schools, Jewish day schools, supplementary schools, museums, BJEs and other educational organizations.

For those accepted to the seminar, we will pay for one night in the hotel, your air or train fare (or gas if you drive in), two lunches and snacks; participants must cover all other expenses, such as transportation to and from the airport, or parking. Once accepted, we will ask you to make your travel arrangements immediately to keep down transportation costs. Note: we will need complete documentation in order to reimburse you.

We will also ask you to purchase and begin reading Beautiful Souls: Saying No, Breaking Ranks, and Heeding the Voice of Conscience in Dark Times, by Eyal Press. We will discuss this book in relation to Centropa's stories involving Righteous Gentiles.

Please do not hesitate to contact Lauren Granite (granite@centropa.org, 301-787-0052) with any questions.

Thank you for your application.

Best,

Edward Serotta, Director
Lauren Granite, US Education Director
