Nomination Form: Co-chairs, Thematic Round Tables

Overview:
 
The 12th session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will take place from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 June 2019 at UN Headquarters in New York. On Monday 10 June, a Civil Society CRPD Forum will be held to complement the Conference.

The overarching theme of the Conference is "Ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities in a changing world through the implementation of the CRPD". Three round tables will address the following themes:

1. Technology, digitalization and ICTs for the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities
2. Social inclusion and the right of the highest attainable standard of health 
3. Inclusion of persons with disabilities in society through participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure and sports 

Cross-cutting theme: Awareness-raising. The Bureau decided further to continue the practice of having a cross cutting theme that shall be considered in all 3 roundtables and also in the relevant background papers.

The COSP Bureau has invited civil society, through the Civil Society Coordination Mechanism (CSCM), to nominate co-chairs for each of the round tables. These nominations will then be considered by the Bureau. Please note, nominations made to the Bureau do not guarantee participation on the round tables.

If you would like to nominate a co-chair for a round table, please fill out the form below and by midnight on Sunday xxx 2019. Please note the nomination criteria below when making your submission.
 
Only one submission from each applicant will be accepted.

Nomination Criteria:
1. Person with a disability
2. Nominated by an organization (no individual nominations)
3. Demonstrated record of working for the rights of persons with disabilities nationally, regionally or globally
4. Demonstrated knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
5. Commitment to upholding and promoting all articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
6. Demonstrated commitment to working for the benefit of persons with disabilities across all constituencies
7. Demonstrated expertise on the round table topic the applicant is nominated for. 

Consideration of gender balance, regional representation and disability constituency will be taken into account. Nominations will be selected through the voting process established by the Civil Society Coordination Mechanism. Successful applicants only will be notified by email by 30 April 2019.
