BrookLynk's Get Ready! will help you gain the skills you need to successfully land a job and navigate the work environment. Training is designed to be engaging, challenging, and fun, and is led by local professionals and BrookLynk alumni. Whether you have never had a job before or if you have successfully completed multiple internships, BrookLynk's Get Ready! training is designed to meet your professional development needs. Training topics include Networking, Resume Building, Communication, and Professionalism.

This application is the first step towards getting yourself work ready and landing an amazing summer job!

To be eligible for BrookLynk, you must:
  • Live in or attend school in Brooklyn Center or Brooklyn Park
  • Be 14-21 years old on June 1, 2019 (Have a birthday after June 1, 1997 and before June 1, 2005)
  • Face a barrier to employment (list of barriers provided below)
  • Not be currently enrolled in college (PSEO, D3, or Gateway to College are okay)

Pick Your Training Session

Once your application has been received and you have been confirmed as eligible, you will be notified by BrookLynk staff via e-mail and phone to schedule your training session.

There are two available training sessions. You only need to attend one session. Please check your preference below.
  • Session 1: Saturday, March 9th from 8:45 am – 2:30 pm at Hennepin Technical College – Brooklyn Park Campus
    • Professional (mock) interviews on Wednesday, March 13th from 4-7 pm
  • Session 2: Saturday, March 23rd from 8:45 am – 2:30 pm at Hennepin Technical College - Brooklyn Park Campus.
    • Professional (mock) interviews on Wednesday, March 27th from 4-7 pm

To be sure we provide you with a high-quality training experience where you learn what you need, we ask that you sign up for a training track. There are three training tracks that students can take part in and we want to be sure you sign-up for the right one. Please read the information below to help you determine which training track is best for you. Our goal is to help you learn the skills that are most relevant to you and your professional development.

Beginning Job Seekers
Best suited for those who:
- Have no previous work experience
- Have never applied or interviewed for a job
- Want to learn the basics of landing a job successfully
 
Intermediate Young Professionals
Best suited for those who:
- Have some prior or limited work experience
- Have applied or interviewed for jobs in the past, but want to improve these skills
- Are interested to learn more about navigating the work environment (workplace ethics, networking, etc.)
 
Experienced Young Professionals  
Best suited for those who:
- Have successfully completed at least one BrookLynk internship, or have at least 2 or more years of previous work experience
- Are confident in their abilities to build a resume, and apply and interview for jobs successfully
- Are interested in learn about more complex and challenging topics about the workforce (ethical decision-making, diversity in the workforce, etc.)
