Availability to teach classes for Aoyama Gakuin University's English Department in the 2026 academic year Survey

If you still have availability in the upcoming (2026) academic year, please tell us the days and periods when you can, potentially, take on additional classes.

Applicants must have an MA (or higher degree) in TESOL, applied linguistics, English, or other closely related field; a minimum of 3 years of university teaching experience (some of it in Japan); and, at least, 3 publications that, ideally, are connected in some way with language learning and teaching.

We do NOT offer sponsorship and you must already be in Japan with a visa permitting you to work.

UPDATE: As of February 23, 2026, all positions have been filled for classes in the 2026 academic year. However, qualified candidates will still be considered for classes in the 2027 academic year and beyond. Applications can be made throughout the year and interviews are held periodically.

Taught a minimum of 3 years at a university (some of it at a Japanese university)

Have, at least, 3 publications that, ideally, are connected in some way with language learning and teaching.

Hold an active visa allowing you to legally live and work in Japan

You will be contacted for an interview if you meet ALL FOUR of the prerequisites listed above and your availability matches the classes that become available. We may also invite qualified applicants to sit for an (online) interview if classes are not immediately available so they can be informed of vacancies as they arise in the 2026 academic year and beyond.
